Rank it: which animal has the best eyesight?

Five animals, one question: who sees sharpest, fastest or in the most colours? Drag them into order, check your answer and see how far off you were. Every round is drawn from studies of real eyes, and no two animals are too close to call.

Put them in order

Sharpest eyes first. Drag the cards, or use Up and Down (arrow keys work too).

Which animal has the best eyesight?

For fine detail, the wedge-tailed eagle tops the animals on this site. The wedge-tailed eagle sees about 2.2 times more detail than you. For colour, the ciliated mantis shrimp has the most colour types (10), and for speed, the tsetse fly sees fast motion best.

Where do the answers come from?

From published studies of each animal's eyes. An animal only appears in a round when its eyes have been tested for that question, and two animals that are nearly tied never meet in the same round.
